Bikers Custom was established in 1970 by Ralph Zepeda and Jimbo Pacha
(brothers-in-law) in a small garage behind Ralph's parents' house.
They
did plumbing in the daytime and chopped old Juarez Police bikes at
night. Back then, you could buy them running for about $350.00. Wide
glides, fatbob tanks, big fenders were out - they must have had 30 sets
thrown out back. Extended springers, peanut tanks, raked frames and
always a 21" wheel were the norm.
Jimbo did motors, trannys and wheel lacing. Ralph did major
fabrication,
making sissy bars, foot pegs, raking
frames, welding
gas and oil tanks.
They made seats, did custom paint and installed more hardtails than can
be remembered.
Nowadays, things are a little different. As some of you might know,
Ralph died in an accident in
1982. So Jimbo and his wife,
Yolanda, run
the shop now located in a 5000sf building at 7631 Alameda.
